Try cleaning the MAF sensor with MAF-specific cleaner spray ($8–12) before replacing it — this fixes the issue in roughly 50% of cases and takes 15 minutes. Never use brake cleaner or carb cleaner on the sensor wire — it will destroy it. If cleaning doesn't help, use an OEM or OEM-equivalent MAF, not a cheap aftermarket unit — poor-quality sensors cause persistent drivability problems.
