AC Condenser Replacement Cost & Pricing
Replace a leaking or damaged AC condenser — the radiator-like component at the front of the vehicle that dissipates heat from the refrigerant. A damaged condenser prevents the AC from cooling.
Typical AC Condenser Replacement cost
$420–$1,280, with an average estimate of $750 before vehicle-specific adjustments.
What to expect
Difficulty: moderate. Typical labor time: 2–5 hours.
Mechanic's tip
Condensers are commonly damaged by road debris and small rocks that penetrate through the front grille. If your AC worked fine then suddenly stopped cooling, a refrigerant leak at the condenser is a common cause. The system must be evacuated and recharged after replacement — this requires EPA-certified equipment and adds to the cost. Ask if the receiver/drier should be replaced at the same time, which is recommended whenever the system is opened.
